Eric Gené and Adam Shepherd take a win each at the TCR Spain finale

TCR Europe Youth Best champion Eric Gené, and aspiring TCR Europe driver Adam Shepherd won a race each at the season finale of the TCR Spain series at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya - both driving for TCR Europe teams’ champions Monlau Motorsport.

Gené controlled the first race from start to finish, leading from pole position ahead of his team-mate and newly-crowned TCR Europe champion Jenson Brickley in Race 1, but it wasn’t enough to stop Mike Halder, himself a three-time race winner in TCR Europe, from winning his second Spanish title.

It was Adam Shepherd who then put on a commanding performance in Race 2, launching into the lead at Turn 1 from third on the grid, and then managing the gap to end of the race, despite a late charge from Halder.

It was Shepherd’s first ever race with Monlau Motorsport after taking part in a test with the team last week, with the new TCR UK champion’s test and drive at the weekend part of an evaluation before a potential move to the TCR Europe series next year.
