Victor Weyrich will make his TCR debut in the TCR Europe Touring Car Series this year behind the wheel of one of the French team's two CUPRA Leon VZ TCRs, with podiums the objective for the new team which comes from a sports car background.
27-year-old Weyrich has previously competed in Porsche Cup and GT4, and last year finished second in the standings of the Alpine Elf Cup, securing a victory and seven podiums over the course of the season.
The series visited three of the circuits which feature on this year's calendar, with Weyrich and Herrero Racing set to benefit from recent experience when TCR Europe visits Mugello, Spa-Francorchamps, and Paul Ricard during the first half of the season.
"I'm really grateful for this opportunity," said Weyrich.
"After some great years in GT, joining TCR Europe is something I've been thinking about for a while - it's a highly competitive championship and I know there's a lot to learn. I'm happy to continue with Herrero Racing, a team that believes in me, and I'll do my best to grow with the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR."
"Victor is back and we couldn't be happier about it!" said team manager Matéo Herrero. "We know each other well now, and that makes a real difference. This season we're stepping into TCR Europe together and we're not here just to take part, we want to fight for podiums, that's the goal."
The team's second driver will be confirmed in the next few weeks.
